Current software solutions that we have released or are currently investigating include:
Mahara (ePortfolios): Mahara is an eportfolio solution that Academic Technologies will be rolling out in the next few months. ePortfolios are strong tools to use to showcase student work (ie. photo portfolio) or track learner progress over a period of time. EDUCAUSE has a good overview of eportfolios at the following website: http://www.educause.edu/ELI/Archives/EPortfolios/5524
Panopto: Panopto is a lecture-capture system that allows one to record their live lectures in a classroom environment. Captured lectures can be shared/archived on a website for later review and retrieval.
The Academic Technologies Lab group is partnering with CALS, Human Ecology, and Mann Library to reduce software licensing costs by combining their license key serving services. During the spring semester, 2012, all software licenses will be assigned from a centralized server. The reports that are generated by the key serving software will help the team identify what software is being used, where it is being used, and the high water marks for usage. This information will be used to adjust the number of licenses to be purchased going forward.
