Cornell University provides general and customized programs for faculty to meet a broad spectrum of technology needs for teaching and research. To help faculty prepare course materials, Faculty Support Services offers a number of specialized services, including the following.
Conduct consultations: If you aren’t sure how to use technology in your teaching, we will work with you to choose the technologies that best meet your specific needs. To request a consultation, fill out the AT Service Request Form, email atc_support@cornell.edu, or call (607) 255-9760.
Prepare course materials for digital display: We can help you prepare existing materials for display on course web sites or in classroom presentations. Available software, equipment, and services include scanners, digital still and video cameras, audio and video editing equipment and software, creative software to edit photos and video, and tools to convert audio and video tapes to digital files. Visit one of the Academic Technology Centers to learn more or complete the AT Service Request Form.
Create audio, video, and podcasts: Instructors can request accounts to host audio or video files for streaming, downloading, or podcasting. Equipment and recommendations for recording podcasts, photographing or filming class projects or experiments, along with help formatting media files for course web sites or blogs is available through the Academic Technology Centers.
Prepare and set up Blackboard course sites: Blackboard’s course management system lets you use the web to deliver materials, assignments and quizzes, manage grades, open discussion groups, and link to Cornell libraries. We can help you get started. To create a Blackboard course shell, fill out the form at http://request.blackboard.cornell.edu. Consult with student technology assistants: Student Assistants offer one-on-one help with any supported technologies, either in the ATC or in your own office or lab with your own computer. To request an appointment, email stap@cornell.edu.
Create web sites for instruction and research: The Academic Technologies group supports instructors who have unique course web site requirements, and offers space for student web projects and research sites. For more information complete the AT Service Form or email atc_support@cornell.edu.
