A new option is on the way for on-demand, real-time, collaborative web meetings and conferencing: WebEx. With the introduction of WebEx, the Adobe Connect online meeting service is being phased out. Faculty members with questions about the transition should email atc_support@cornell.edu. Staff members with transition questions should email cit-av@cornell.edu.
Cornell faculty, staff, and affiliates can organize meetings. Anyone can participate.
There is no charge to use WebEx at Cornell. The licensing cost for WebEx is underwritten by CIT. Certain extra features, such as WebEx Audio, are available to departments for a fee, and there may be a cost when teleconference bridging is needed.

WebEx works with PC, Mac, Linux, and Solaris, and has apps for iPhone, iPad, Android, and Blackberry. Departments have the option to purchase WebEx Audio in order to bridge VoIP and phone conferences.
Cornell faculty and staff who would like to try WebEx can ask to be considered for an account in the pilot, with the understanding that the service has not yet formally launched and details and functionality are still being refined and finalized.

CIT support is not yet available for WebEx during the pilot phase. It will be a supported service after the official service launch.
