Technical Requirements

To use VPN with Cornell campus networks and services, you must use the Cornell Cisco VPN software. Built-in Windows and Mac OSX software will not work.

Supported systems:

  • Windows XP or higher (both 32- and 64-bit versions)
  • Mac OSX, version 10.5 or higher (both 32- and 64-bit versions)
  • Windows Mobile
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Desktop, Ubuntu 9.x

Linux users can use open source "IP-Sec" VPN software. If you would like information about that alternate Linux VPN client, please see the  University of Kaiserslautern's Linux VPNC page.

Minimal support is available for campus VPN for iPhone and iPod Touch. 

Users must have installed Java 1.4 or higher or ActiveX.
