Central Survey Tool

CIT Supported

Cornell provides a survey tool, Qualtrics, for use at no cost by Cornell faculty, staff, and students. Users can create and distribute their own surveys and gather information in support of the university's educational mission and organizational goals. Qualtrics has been reviewed by CIT's security team and approved for conducting surveys at Cornell.

The first three steps to getting started with Qualtrics are

  1. Creating an account
  2. Determining if your survey requires approval
  3. Learning how to use the survey tool

Creating an Account

If you do not currently have an account for the Cornell Survey Tool, one will be generated for you automatically the first time you log in. By clicking the log in link, you certify that you understand and agree to the terms of use for Cornell's survey tool.

Logging In

You can log in to Qualtrics at http://surveys.cornell.edu.

Does Your Survey Require Approval?

Without exception, all human participant research conducted by Cornell University investigators, students, and staff, and any others conducting research at Cornell or utilizing Cornell resources, must receive prior approval of Cornell University's Institutional Review Board (IRB).

To determine whether or not your research requires review and approval by the IRB, see the decision tree, "Is your activity covered under the Human Research Protection Program?" a PDF published by Cornell's Office of Research Integrity and Assurance. Visit the IRB web site for more information.

Learning How to Use the Survey Tool
