About SPSS

SPSS is a suite of statistical analysis software, originally optimized for use in the social sciences, and is now for general use. The first version was released in 1968. For most of its history, SPSS software was manufactured by SPSS Inc. IBM acquired SPSS Inc in 2009, and SPSS has been an IBM product since then.

IBM SPSS Statistics is the most-used product of the suite. CU Software manages a cost-recovered enterprise license agreement for SPSS Statistics, which is available to students, staff, and faculty.

SPSS Amos is a separate standalone product that provides structural equation modeling. Cornell staff and faculty can purchase IBM's standard academic retail licenses for SPSS Amos through CU Software.
