Windows Vista will automatically create a new network connection when you plug in the Ethernet cable.
From the Start menu, select Connect to.
- Click Open Network and Sharing Center. The Network and Sharing Center window appears.
- Locate the Network connection (Local Area Connection), and click View status. The Local Area Connection Status dialog box appears.
- Click Properties. If an account control message box appears, click Continue. The Local Area Connection Properties dialog box appears.
- Select Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and click Properties. The Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) Properties dialog box appears.
- Select Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically. Then, click OK.
- Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties. The Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties dialog box appears.
- Select Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically. Then, click OK.
- Click OK or Close to return to the Network and Sharing Center window.
- Close the Network and Sharing Center window.
- Open an Internet browser (such as Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Explorer).
- Go to the Cornell Network registration page. (This page may load automatically.)
- Complete the online registration.
