Steps to Take Before Your Account Is Moved

Depending on how you access your email and calendar now, you may need to take a few steps before your account is moved to Office 365. You will be notified by email 3 weeks before your account is scheduled to move, and you will also receive a few reminders.

These steps can be done at any time before your account is moved. Your account will still work with Cornell's current email and calendar system after you take these steps.

  1. Take care of your very large messages.
    If you have received notices that your account has messages larger than 25 MB, and you have not yet decided whether to save or delete those messages, take these steps to manage your very large messages.
    If you did not receive any notices, skip this step.

  2. Make some changes in your email client.
    Depending on which email client you use, you may need to take some steps before your account is moved to Office 365. Be sure to do these steps on any computer you use (at work or at home).
  • Outlook Web App (exchange.cornell.edu) -- don't need to do anything before; may need to do steps after
  • iPhone or iPad (iOS devices) -- don't need to do anything before; will need to do steps after
  • Android -- don't need to do anything before; will need to do steps after

NOTE: If you do not complete these steps before migration, you will receive an error messages (or things simply won't work right) after migration, and you'll need to complete these steps then. So we recommend you just go ahead and do them today.
