Installation Instructions for TSM Client v6.2.2.0 for
Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion)
IBM and Tivoli have NOT yet announced support for Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion). If you upgrade to Mountain Lion before they do so, we cannot guarantee the integrity of your backups or the ability to restore data. Based on past experience, the vendor should announce support for Mountain Lion within days or weeks of its release.
This procedure is NOT for Mac OS X older than 10.5 (Leopard).
IF
you have upgraded your computer's operating system (for example, to Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) from an earlier version of Mac OS X)
AND
you used any version of TSM (the EZ-Backup client) on your computer with the earlier version of OS X
THEN
we strongly urge you to write to us to request a filespace rename.
Without a rename, should you need to recover files, your backups may contain a mixture of different versions of the Mac OS X, and that would be a bad thing.
For further advice, or to request that the EZ-Backup team rename your filespace, please email us at ezbackup@cornell.edu and put 'Mac Lion' in the subject of the email.
If you have an earlier version of the TSM client installed, please use our Upgrade instructions instead of these instructions.
If this computer is not yet registered, please go to the EZ-Backup Subscription Page.
There are four main parts to the installation process:
Getting Ready
Running the Installer
Configuring Automated Backup
Tidying Up
