Caution: If you have other antivirus software installed, manually remove it before installing the new version. See the How to Uninstall procedure.
When the installation is finished, your system will automatically reboot. Save any work and close all other applications before you start installation.
- Download the installer.
- If necessary, double-click the SymantecEndpointProtection.mkpg icon.
- In the Welcome window, click Continue. Follow the instructions as the installer continues.
- In the Client Type window, the Unmanaged option is selected. Click Continue.
- When prompted, enter the user name and password for your computer, and then click OK. (This is the password you use when installing software on your computer, not your NetID password.)
- You'll see a warning to close all applications and that you'll be logged out when the installation is complete. Click Continue Installation.
- The installation takes a few minutes. When it is finished, click Logout.
Note: All open applications will be closed and you will be logged off automatically.
- After you log back in, you'll see the Symantec Quickstart icon in the toolbar at the top of the screen. Click it and then click Open LiveUpdate.
- Click Update Everything Now. The definitions, clients, and other information are updated to the most recent versions.
- You'll see a summary of the items that were updated. Click Quit.
Symantec Endpoint Protection is now installed on your computer. Continue with the steps to Schedule Scans to be sure your computer is protected.
