Academic Web Sites (Static)

CIT Supported

Academic Technologies offers two different web hosting packages, static and dynamic. The static environment is one that uses only html to serve its pages. You may use css, javascript, and server-side includes, but there are no cgi or other programming capabilities available.

For information about dynamic hosting see Academic Websites (Dynamic). If you are not sure which package is right for you, visit the AT Services Request Form or contact atc_support@cornell.edu.

Your web site should be built with a tool such as Dreamweaver, and then uploaded to the site using an SFTP program such as Dreamweaver, WinSCP for Windows or Fetch for Macintosh. More information is available on the How To page.

The Static Hosting Package includes:

  • Access to the static (courses) server through a UNIX shell account with 150 MB of disk space
  • Access to a web environment with 150 MB of disk space
  • 12 hours support in using the static hosting environment
  • Daily backups

Please visit the About page for important policy information including established maintenance windows. If you would like information about Dynamic Hosting, please visit the Academic Websites (Dynamic) page.
